Telephone Account Manager

What you'll be doing

The creation of this role follows recent and continuing growth of the business throughout 2018 into 2019. As a Telephone Account Manager, you’ll be responsible for generating new business with your assigned accounts and promoting Guardian’s proposition with intermediaries.

The role will involve promoting Guardian’s full suite of Individual protection products to an allocated panel of advisers/brokers over the telephone.

Accountabilities:

Sales

  • Generate new business to meet agreed sales target for your assigned accounts working remotely
  • Have a good understanding and experience of the individual protection market, including legislative and regulatory issues
  • Make sure that all compliance and KPI requirements are met

Entrepreneurship

  • Build strong enduring relationships with our intermediary partners as well as internal customers
  • Use your expertise of the Individual Protection market and knowledge of key competitor’s propositions to differentiate and best position the Guardian brand
  • Work with your proposition development colleagues to ensure that our proposition is competitive and that the business produced meets quality, profitability and persistency standards

Continual improvement

  • To review and identify opportunities, so that we can create a learning organisation, in line with agreed process

Values champion

  • To be an effective role model within the team, living and promoting the Guardian vision and values to ensure the team are brand ambassadors, in accordance with the beliefs of the business

Who we need

Ideally, you will have the following experience:

  • A successful sales track record
  • Experience in telephone sales
  • Business development experience
  • Financial services background
  • Broad knowledge of protection products
  • Experience and knowledge of the IFA market and of sales in financial services

The following experience would be desirable but not essential:

  • Financial Service experience
  • Protection knowledge
  • Intermediary sales experience

National Partnerships Manager

What you'll be doing

Home based with frequent meetings at our offices in central Reading, you’ll be responsible for managing Guardian’s engagement with a portfolio of Strategic Partners and Key Accounts to support our business ambitions. You’ll be engaged in seeking out panel opportunities and will support the Head of Strategic Partnerships in the submission of panel tenders. You’ll work closely with your portfolio to identify opportunities for our sales and marketing team to promote our high value proposition. As the face of Guardian within your portfolio, you’ll be expected to deliver presentations at local and national events. At all times you’ll be responsible for demonstrating the Guardian brand and values in the very best light.

Key responsibilities

Business Development

  • Seek out opportunities for panel positions and convert into new business accounts
  • Manage panel implementation and exploit new business opportunities using your detailed understanding and experience of the individual protection market, including legislative and regulatory issues
  • Represent Guardian at protection seminars/workshops
  • Ensure that all compliance and KPI requirements are met

Distribution Risk

  • Work with the Sales Management Team and the Risk and Compliance Team to ensure that any risks associated with the distribution process are identified and documented
  • Ensure that any risks are managed in line with agreed procedures
  • Ensure that any remedial action which may be required is taken promptly and reviewed in line with agreed procedures

Planning

  • Create and manage Sales and Marketing plan for National Partner portfolio
  • Analyse and use accurate MI to adopt a planned and prioritised approach to all Guardian business development activity
  • Ensure business objectives are achieved and excellent relationships are maintained
  • Work with the face to face and telesales teams to ensure their resource is aligned with the Key Accounts

Commercial

  • Driving commercial value for Guardian across the portfolio of National Partners

Entrepreneurship

  • Build strong relationships with our intermediary partners as well as internal customers
  • Use your expertise of the Individual Protection market and knowledge of our key competitor’s propositions to differentiate and best position the Guardian brand
  • Assist proposition development colleagues in ensuring that our proposition is competitive, and the business received meets our quality, profitability and persistency standards
  • Maintain a good understanding of the way technology is used within the current protection market to support proposition development

Who we need

Ideally, you'll have experience of:

  • The IFA market in general and particularly distribution channels
  • Working on panel tenders
  • Managing distribution risk
